Mindful Movement: The Key to Releasing Overwhelming Emotions

Discover the Power of Yoga and Interrupting Thought Reactions for Improved Health and Wellness

As the Wellness Editor at CNX MAG, I take my job seriously. It’s not just about sharing information, but also about helping people improve their lives. That’s why I was excited to attend Iron Nomads‘ recent information session and yoga flow led by Kru Tara.

I believe that wellness and better health really do begin with understanding the way our minds and bodies work (and then having the presence to pause and intercept thought reactions before they become stuck habits or overwhelming emotional crises).I really enjoyed this wonderful event set up by Iron Nomads on Saturday 22nd July at Alt_Chiang Mai with Sami from The Relationship Rehab and then a yoga flow led by Kru Tara

Participants learned a little about how our brains work and how overwhelming feelings become stuck in the body and how we then, sometimes, contribute to our own emotional melt-downs and catastrophizing behavior.

By understanding the process and gently interrupting it, we give ourselves a chance to pause and choose a different, healthier and more expansive way forward.

Kru Tara led the participants through a gentle yoga flow, which was wonderfully inclusive for all abilities, fitness levels, and body types.

Participants were encouraged to feel where they held their stuck emotional patterns, and then how to breathe into them and create small spaces and wriggle room for a new way of understanding, allowing or being with difficult and overwhelming emotions.

We learned together that our stiff bodies are often holding difficult and painful emotions, and that the release of them enables better breathing, better sleep and more energy. This truly is where wellness begins.

Iron Nomads host regular 4-day fitness retreats and have their next one coming up in August.  It’s a great way to have an experiential wellness re-set and to explore new ways of thinking about health and fitness; all abilities, genders, shapes, fitness levels, and sizes are warmly welcomed to explore a healthier way of living.
