CNX WEEKLY 03-07-24
WEEKLY DIGITAL EDITION | MARCH 07, 2024
Hey Chiang Mai!
This week, dive into the vibrant energy of the city with a diverse selection of events. Celebrate International Women's Day at Weave Artisan Society (free drinks and finger foods!), find your language soulmate at a BlaBla Language Exchange, conquer the Ping River on a kayaking meetup, and unwind with a rejuvenating herbal steam and ice bath.
Feel like exploring? Join a Sunday stroll through iconic Twin Peaks landmarks, led by the knowledgeable Pop.
Let's explore what awaits!
This week we have some "Transportation Tips" to tackle the iconic songthaews!
Let’s shed light on negotiating songthaew fares. Remember, songthaews aren't metered taxis, so agreeing on a price beforehand is key. Here's a general guideline:
Start with a friendly "Sawasdee Krub/Ka" This translates to "Hello" with “krub“ being the masculine word and “ka“ being the feminine word and continue by asking about the fare to your desired destination.
Be Prepared to Counter: The driver might offer a higher price than usual. Don't be afraid to respond with a reasonable counteroffer based on the estimated distance or your knowledge of typical fares.
Remember, Respect is Key: A smile and a courteous tone go a long way. If negotiations stall, thank the driver politely and try another songthaew. Remember, everyone wants a fair price, so maintain a friendly and respectful demeanor throughout the process.
Enjoy your weekend!
